UKs hardest working dad emigrates to Australia
Dave and Jackie Jones arrived in Australia yesterday, hoping that it offers them opportunities not available in the UK. Dave, 42, pledges to do the best for his kids, explaining that the UK at the moment does not offer the bright opportunities he wants for his kids.
He says he, his wife Jackie, along with their five sons and seven daughters, made a serious family decision to leave. Everyone wanted it and it was a unanimous decision, he said.
They are certain their new life in Brisbane will be opening up more opportunities which would be unavailable to them back in Barrow-in-Furness, their home town in Cumbria. His place of origin is one of the UK’s most deprived areas, riddled with high unemployment levels and lower-than-average levels of income.
Dave hit the headlines in 2010 when he refused to live off of benefits that would have eased the financial burden of his big family. He says he has no regrets about emigrating from the UK.
