Irish Government blamed for driving 9 people per hour to emigrate
Delegates to the conference in Killarney gave Mr Adams a standing ovation as he slammed the Irish government on emigration. The recession has caused an exodus of the Republic’s young people, argued Adams.
Around 70,000 people are now emigrating every year--or nine citizens each hour, he claimed. Rural Ireland is seeing the most devastating effects, he argued, indicting Prime Minister Taoiseach and deputy PM Mr Tanaiste.
Eamon Gilmore and Enda Kenny are also “out of their depth”, criticized Mr Adams, who went on to say that the Government cannot be trusted in terms of fiscal stability.
Mr Adams demanded a United Ireland at the conference dominated by discussions on the economic recession and the impending EU Fiscal Treaty referendum.
While a United Ireland and a single Island economic system makes sense, it does not make sense that such a small island of six million would have two bureaucracies competing for inward investment, argued Mr Adams.
