Dutch online secondhand car purchase site is great news for expats
In a move set to revolutionise the Netherlands’ second-hand car market, it’s now possible to buy a vehicle and have it delivered to your door simply by accessing the new Bynco website. First launched last year, the website has proved stunningly popular with newly arrived expats as not only does it provide what it promises, it also helps those unfamiliar with vehicle purchase through all the steps necessary for legal ownership. Admittedly, it sounds crazy to spend thousands of euros on a car and expect it to turn up as promised, but that’s exactly what happens, and more.
Firstly, the funds used to buy the chosen car are deposited in a third-party account held by GoCredible – a good sign for nervous buyers half-expecting the latest scam. The cars themselves are independently inspected by DEKRA, with the Thuiswinkel symbol prominently displayed on Bynco’s website showing the business meets all the high standards necessary for shopping on the internet. It doesn’t matter that the selected car may be several hundred or more kilos away, delivery is included in the price. Haggling isn’t allowed, a relief for new arrivals who can’t yet speak Dutch, a bargaining is the norm at offline second-hand car dealers’ premises.
The actual price includes a 180 day warranty, delivery and a 14-day test drive period with return for free should the buyer change his or her mind. Vehicle trade-ins and finance are also on offer, and the company has only had three returned cars since it opened last year. The guy who delivers the car talks its new owner through everything they need to know before accompanying him to the local vehicle registration office to do the paperwork. It’s no surprise at all that Bynco is now the go-to for the Netherlands’ expat population as regards buying secondhand wheels.
