UAE healthcare company to offer expat retiree health and social care packages
One of the UAE’s healthcare providers has come up with a new scheme aimed at offering services to retired expats including grooming services, day-trips and even bingo for the retired. The health and social care packages are to be offered by Manzil Healthcare Services to UAE nationals, expats living and working in the emirates and elderly tourists visiting the UAE. The service was inspired by the recent announcement of five-year retiree visas for expats who wish to stay in the UAE after they’ve retired.
Although the option of spending at least part of their retirement years in the UAE is new to foreigners already working in the emirates, the healthcare company believes it’s important to offer a social care package to those who don’t want to return to their home countries the minute they stop working. To qualify for a five-year visa, expats must own a UAE property worth at least DH2 million and either have savings of DH1 million or more or have a monthly income of not less that Dh200,000.
Manzil’s scheme was inspired by a survey carried out earlier this year by an English language newspaper, which indicated a good number of expats would like to stay in the UAE post-retirement. IN addition, the scheme will also be open to short-term residents such as parents of expats working in the UAE who arrive to visit their adult children and stay for three months or so. In addition to events and social occasions, the subscription-based scheme will include healthcare visits by nurses or caregivers, services such as haircuts and shaving and awareness packages about diet and lifestyle tips for the elderly.
