Canadian Visa Costs And Red Tape

Of course, there are fees connected to every kind of Canadian visa except for visitors arriving on tourist visas from one of the visa-waiver nations. These are free visas, good for a stay of up to six months, but do not allow any kind of employment and cannot lead to a permanent residency status.
Canada's non-immigrant visas are known as Temporary Resident Visas (TRV), and are used by visitors from countries not on the visa-waiver list who need time to complete specific purposes in Canada such as business deals, research or studying. A single entry TRV costs C$75, while the multiple-entry TRV is C$150. The maximum family rate for the TRV is C$400.
In addition, you need a permit for your temporary activity. The general temporary resident permit will cost C$200, while the student permit is C$125 and includes extensions. If you are doing some kind of work that falls under the TRV category, then this work permit will cost you C$150 including extensions.
Emigrants who apply for permanent residency status pay different application fees depending on what kind of visa they are applying for. Skilled Workers and Provincial Nominees pay C$550 for the primary applicant, C$550 for each family member 22 years or older and C$150 for each family member under 22 years old.
The investor, entrepreneur and self-employed class of immigrant visa will cost the primary applicant C$1,050, C$550 for each family member 22 years or older and C$150 for each family member under 22 years old. Other types of permanent residency applications such as the spouse of a Canadian citizen cost C$475 for the principal applicant, C$550 for each family member 22 years or older and C$150 for each family member under 22 years old.
When applying for citizenship it costs C$200 for the entire application process, and C$75 for the certificate upon approval. Children considered minors by the government pay C$100 for the citizenship application process.
